Elise Valmorbida
Author

Elise Valmorbida grew up Italian in Australia, and lives in London. Her award-winning Faber novel The Madonna of the Mountains is published internationally in several languages and editions. Other books include Matilde Waltzing, The TV President, The Winding Stick and The Book of Happy Endings. Elise is also an award-winning indie film producer and wrote SAXON: The Making of a Guerrilla Film. Her most recent non-fiction is a creative writing guide: The Happy Writing Book.

Books

Elise teaches creative writing with Central Saint Martins, Faber Academy, Guardian Masterclasses, Arvon, Writers Victoria, literary festivals and community-building organisations. She is founder-director of communications consultancy word-design, and former External Examiner for the MA in Professional Writing at Falmouth University. She serves on the advisory board of The Literary Consultancy (as of 2026), and is a member of Writers Victoria, English PEN, the Royal Society of Literature and The Society of Authors. Her literary agent is Clare Alexander of Aitken Alexander Associates.
